Twilight is the Most-favored movie trailer this year? Even the huge hype around “Twilight” and Harry Potter couldn’t match the most-seen trailer this year.

Ive been a big fan of the books for a while now and was amazed at how well the movie was done. There were bits and peices that were left out or rearranged but you have to do that when converting a book to a movie. Can’t wait to see it again.

What is the next twilight? Twilight Teenage Vampire Movie: From Twilight to High School Musical 3. News from Los Angeles – Team Edward is winning. But for how long?

From Twilight to High School Musical 3: Senior Year to the Hannah Montana concert movie, teen and tween girls have wielded considerable power at the box office this year. The broader female market also made blockbusters of Sex and the City and Mamma Mia!

But if you think Hollywood is ready to build on (read: imitate) these hits with more movies aimed at fanggirls and their sisters, think again.

“If the industry at large wasn’t completely taken aback by the success of Twilight and Sex and the City,” says Karina Longworth, editor of the film blog SpoutBlog, “then at the very least, I don’t think they were prepared to capitalize on those successes.”

Film.com’s Eric D. Snider, who last spring warned smug fanboys to take Twilight seriously, says no matter how many times a chick flick hits, Hollywood is surprised—”as if they’ve never heard of this strange niche demographic known as women before.

“Then they get all excited about making more movies for women, and then they forget all about it and go back to making movies about giant robots,” Snider says.

Is it possible they’ve already forgotten?

Looking at the 2009 movie schedule, Snider says he doesn’t see an “obvious slam dunk” for the female market, outside of the Hannah Montana comedy, Hannah Montana: The Movie, set for April.

Longworth, likewise, isn’t bullish. She reminds that 2008’s femme hits were built on familiar brand names—the Stephenie Meyer Twilight books, the HSM Disney Channel franchise, the Sex and the City HBO series, etc. “Looking at the release schedule for the next six months,” she says, “there really isn’t a surplus of other projects in the pipeline with the same kind of female-centric brand recognition.”

And, according to Longworth, that means Anne Hathaway’s and Kate Hudson’s Bride Wars, and Jennifer Aniston’s He’s Just Not That Into You.

Youth marketing expert Tina Wells of Buzz Marketing Group thinks tween girls, in the short run, are going to be loading up more on DVDs—the straight-to-video comedy The Clique, the due-out-next-week The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian—than movie tickets.

“Right now,” Wells says, “the only movie coming up that looks like it’ll be a hit with tweens is the upcoming Emma Roberts film, Hotel for Dogs.” (Wells, Longworth and Snider all responded to questions via email.)

But if you think that nothing has changed, that girls will always take a distant second in Hollywood’s hearts to boys, then the studio behind Twilight, for one, doesn’t agree.

“There’s nothing like the power of the box office,” Summit Entertainment distribution president Richie Fay said last weekend. “…There’s a segment out there that probably hasn’t been given their fair due, and now certainly you’re going to find creative folks out there [looking at more female-driven properties].”

Summit’s looking at a few of those itself. They’re called the prospective sequels to Twilight.

So what’s the hype? I’ve seen better movies…and actors.

Hmm.I know just as many guys who have read the books,and seen it in the movies and also are looking forward to the rest of the movies as much as us girls.So i really don’t think the movie is just for girls.

Twilight Movie Reviews: The prospect of reliving high school is scary enough; imagine having to do it over and over again for all eternity. That ninth circle of Hell premise is the reality of vampire Edward Cullen and his clan of adoptive siblings in Twilight, the faithful (from what I’m told) adaptation of the bestselling young adult novel by Stephenie Meyer. It’s the first of what will certainly become a franchise of films, the next in the Lord of the Rings-Harry Potter chain of blockbuster literature adaptations. I can only hope that next in line is those Choose Your Own Adventure books.

The Plot
Seventeen-year-old Bella (Kristen Stewart) moves from sunny Phoenix, Arizona to dreary, rainy Forks, Washington when her free-spirited mother decides to go “on the road” with her new, minor league baseball-playing husband. She moves in with her disturbingly unobservant father, the sheriff in the 3,000-person town, and begins her junior year at the local high school in the middle of March.

Bella’s a mopey, humorless teen who keeps to herself, but as high school popularity is based 95% on looks, she falls in with a cool crowd. She’s drawn to Edward (Robert Pattinson), one of five impeccably coifed 17-year-old adoptive children of local doctor Carlisle Cullen (Peter Facinelli). He, however, acts strange towards her, at times unnaturally intrigued and at other times rudely repulsed.

Once they finally hash things out, it becomes clear that he indeed finds her appealing but for some reason feels it’s in her best interest if they don’t interact. Their mutual attraction can’t be contained, however, and Bella eventually puts two and two together to figure out that Edward and his clan are vampires. Edward explains that he can read minds, but he’s intrigued by the fact that hers is blocked. They quickly become more than friends, as he indoctrinates her into the ways of the vampire (apparently, they enjoy giving piggyback rides).

© SummitThe Cullens, we find out, are friendly, “vegetarian” vampires who feed on animals instead of humans (try explaining the upside of that to your pet schnauzer) and welcome her with open arms. Trouble comes to town, however, when a trio of “old school” vamps breezes through, leaving a trail of bodies in their wake. Dr. Cullen officially labels them “animal attacks” but knows that they’ll have to confront the interlopers. All possibility of civility goes out the door when one of the meat-eating vampires catches Bella’s scent (apparently, she’s got an irresistible odor) and targets her for death. Edward and his family must stand up to protect her while maintaining their secret.

The End Product
Twilight is solid entertainment if you go in expecting a romance colored by a supernatural thriller and not the other way around. Like the early episodes of True Blood, the standard vampire elements are downplayed in favor of the central human-vamp relationship. And like True Blood, it manages to remain watchable, since we are learning about the characters just as they are learning about each other. Still, with a running time of over two hours, Twilight tests the limit of how much vampire inaction the audience can take in one film.

Scriptwriter Melissa Rosenberg deserves a good deal of the credit for keeping the action-starved plot from becoming stagnant, delving into the adolescent “Wouldn’t it be cool if” elements of dating a vampire with a sense of wonderment and an occasional touch of humor. The Bella-Edward relationship is realistically shallow and overbearing as only teenaged angst can validate.

I’m not sure why anyone would like gloomy gus Bella, but Stewart’s mature performance keeps her from becoming a dismissible teen waif. Pattinson is similarly enjoyable, once you get past his character’s impossibly pallid face and cumulonimbus-styled hair. Cam Gigandet makes for a strong foe as evil vamp James, but he and his posse have way too little to do in the movie.

© SummitThat’s because the film feels sterilized for the intended teen audience. I’m not saying that it shouldn’t be this way, but a vampire movie with nary a drop of blood is an odd duck. And vampires that don’t die in sunlight, but instead sparkle? Is this product placement for the glitter industry? Also, some of the plot elements feel glossed over to make the story flow more freely and avoid nuisance conflicts — like why would the Cullens so readily reveal themselves to Bella? Moments like this make Twilight feel a bit dumbed down — and unnecessarily so. (The quidditch-like vampire baseball game ventures into a whole other realm of dumb.)

Like True Blood, Twilight is an intriguing journey into not-quite-real world whose most interesting moments come not from the central love story, but rather from the overarching plot, the tales of the myriad of characters who make up the universe. The secret pact between the vampires and the local Native American tribe, for instance, feels fresh and will certainly be explored in the next film — if the “to be continued” ending is any indication. The knowledge that there will be a second — and a third and probably a fourth — entry makes Twilight feel a bit like a miniseries opener: a solid but perfunctory introduction that does enough to keep us wanting more — or at least willing to see more.

The Skinny
Acting: B (Strong leads and supporting work.)
Direction: C+ (Solid, though the action scenes are at times awkward.)
Script: C+ (Maintains our interest without devolving too much into blathering teen drama.)
Gore/Effects: C- (Sub-PG-13 gore and at times cheesy “flying” sequences that take you out of the film.)
Overall: C+ (Should thrill fans of the book, but may not win a ton of converts.)
Twilight is directed by Catherine Hardwicke and is rated PG-13 for some violence and a scene of sensuality. Release date: November 21, 2008.

Twilight was an amazing movie!
i really liked the movie. i was looking forward to it for a while, and im really glad i saw it. it sounds weird, but for the most part, the only people who liked it are the true twilight fans. i really want to see it again though because it was amazing.
I think this movie was horrible.. It really wasnt as action packed as they made it seem. I think They should keep it to the books.
I loved the movie. It was great.
I’ve read all of the books and, in my opinion, the movie was just OKAY. It could’ve been better. Definitely was not AMAZING…
Not being a person who enjoys reading- I have to say this movie really was awesome to me. I’m definitely going to read the books and hopefully get better insight. Can’t wait to see the movie again

Between running her errands around town, Lindsay found time to return to her blog to express her opinions, this time urging people to vote in today’s election. This time she kept the ranting to a minimum. She wrote:

Sorry i haven’t blogged in a minute.. i’ve been traveling and trying to catch up on sleep! I thought it was important to just put a message out there tonight for anyone that is on myspace at the moment.. So, here goes.. I cannot say how important it is for everyone to get out there and vote tomorrow… The future of our country depends on it. Just one vote can make such a difference… Vote-because your thoughts are worth it..VOTE-because YOU can make this country a better place…VOTE-because you can.

I feel like i have so much more to say, but the only thing that needs to be said right now, is for people to get out there and VOTE.

I voted this Morning in San Francisco and I’m proud to say that after I reviewed my ballots I will say it out loud I’m a LIBERAL and I LOVE IT!!!!

If you had six rugrats 7 and under, 2 being 3 month old twins you are breastfeeding every couple of hours, you would have facial lines also. Doubt if she cares too much about the lines as she barely has time to look in a mirror too much these days. She is only 33, maybe as the kids get older she can get some rest. Well maybe not as she has already said she and Brad intend to adopt again. You know lines are not the worst things to have in life.

Seems that the population self-identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) becomes more and more. According to my experience on the site *BiLoves dotcom* (a site for coming out, explore sexuality, etc.), there are about 100 members per day and they are very active. You can imagine. If you come here frequently, you may find what you want easily and quickly.

Jennifer Hudson Tragedy: Dead Body Is Jennifer Hudson’s Nephew, FBI Says. The body of a slain young boy has been identified as that of Jennifer Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew, Chicago police confirmed at a press conference Monday.

Police have no suspects.

Julian King was missing all weekend after an unidentified assailant fatally shot Hudson’s mother Darnell, 57, and brother Jason, 29, on Friday.

At 7:05 a.m. Monday, Chicago police discovered the slain boy — who was shot multiple times, according to the Tribune — in the back seat of an abandoned white 1994 Chevy Suburban on Chicago’s West Side.

Chicago police call the killings “domestic related.”

Though he has not been charged, William Balfour — the estranged husband of Julia Hudson, Jennifer’s sister — was taken into custody Friday by Chicago police for questioning.

The 27-year-old Balfour — who spent nearly seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle — is not the boy’s father.

He is being held at the Illinois Department of Corrections on a parole violation “unrelated to this investigation.”

Balfour’s mother, Michele Balfour, has said Jennifer Hudson’s mother kicked Balfour out of the family home last winter. She denied her son had anything to do with the killings.

Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother killed in Chicago home, nephew missing. Police enter the home belonging to Jennifer Hudon’s mother (below), who was found murdered along with her son.

Balfour is being sought by police in connection to the murders.

“Dreamgirls” actress Jennifer Hudson was living a nightmare Friday as Chicago cops hunted for the killer of her beloved mother and brother at the family’s South Side home.

The manhunt focused on a violent ex-con described as “armed and dangerous” who investigators think abducted Hudson’s missing 7-year-old nephew, Julian King.

There were unconfirmed reports in Chicago newspapers late Friday night that cops had arrested 27-year-old William Balfour.

But the 5-foot-tall, 135-pound youngster was still missing.

On his MySpace page, Balfour, who once gave the Hudson’s home as his address, calls Jennifer’s older sister Julia his “wife” and the boy his stepson.

Hudson family matriarch Darnell Hudson Donerson, 57, was discovered shot dead at the family’s large white house on the 7000 block of South Yale Ave. in Englewood – about 5 miles from the home of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama – shortly before 3 p.m. Friday, authorities said.

Police said one of Hudson’s cousins found Donerson on a living room floor with a bullet in her head.

The singer’s older brother Jason Hudson, 29, was shot in the chest in a bedroom, they said.

At least one of the victims had defensive wounds, but detectives wouldn’t say which.

“Right now, we’re handling this as a homicide,” confirmed Officer John Mirabelli of the Chicago Police Department.

Investigators said there were no signs of forced entry and said the crime may be “domestic related” because Jennifer Hudson’s nephew was gone.

The boy “may be in the company of a male African American in his late 20s who is the father of the child,” Mirabelli said, adding that an Amber Alert had been issued.

Balfour, paroled after pleading guilty to attempted murder and vehicular hijacking in 1999 and serving 7 years, was thought to be driving a Chrysler Concorde or Chevy Suburban, he said.

Motor vehicles records show the Suburban was registered to Jason Hudson.

The romantic link between Balfour and Hudson’s older sister Julia, Julian’s mom, was sketchy but clearly evident on Julia’s MySpace page.

In her profile, Julia, 31, listed her No. 1 best friend as her mom, her second as “William” and her third as Jennifer. She also said her mom is the person she most admires while “William” was “most likely” to get arrested.

A MySpace photo of William is endearingly titled “My William.”

In his profile, Balfour declared, “I don’t tolerate b——, so don’t come at me with it. I like to live life and experience everything. That’s why I’m here seeing what it’s about.”

He then drops Hudson’s name, saying, “I might as well let you all know that Jennifer Hudson is my wife’s sister. I’m proud of her and wish her nothing but the best in what she do, but don’t hit me up asking about her.”

Hudson, 27, is seen by millions as the embodiment of the American dream because she was rejected from “American Idol” but later went on to win an Oscar for her role in the hit 2006 musical “Dreamgirls.” She currently co-stars in the Queen Latifah movie “The Secret Life of Bees.”

A supporter of Obama, Hudson sang the national anthem at the Democratic Party’s convention in Denver in August on the night when he accepted the presidential nomination.

Hudson, who lost her dad when she was a teen, often credits her close-knit family for keeping her grounded.

“My family, they’re very realistic and normal. They’re not into the whole limelight kind of thing, so when I go home to Chicago, that’s just another place that’s home,” she said in a recent interview.

This is terrible news for J.Hud, and although I’ not a fan of hers I can understand what shes gonna go through. And yeah its sad her family still lived in a bad area, but it was already explained that they refused to move out. Glamor and luxury is not for everyone. I hope her nephew is well and alive, and that she can pull through this tragedy.

I can’t believe the losers who’re posting on this. NOBODY deserves anything like this to happen to them, EVER. I hate American Idol (the product), but Jennifer is a huge inspiration to everyone, everywhere (I’ve got nothing against anyone who’s been on American Idol, well, except maybe Sanjaya, who just sucks). It was a great stepping stone for Jennifer to get out there and have her talent recognized. Sex And The City: What Do Sex And The City Stars Want From A Sequel? ‘Lots More Men” You have to tell a good story,’ Sarah Jessica Parker insists at film’s DVD release party.

Sarah Jessica Parker at the Sex And The City DVD Release Party in NYC. NEW YORK — On a gorgeous fall night, stars from this summer’s smash hit, “Sex and the City: The Movie,” walked a hot-pink carpet to celebrate Tuesday’s release of the DVD.

The carpet was laid out in front of the New York Public Library, otherwise known as the scene of the crime: where Big left Carrie at the altar. While there was no Big in sight, Carrie, Samantha and Miranda were all on hand — Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon — along with Willie Garson, Mario Cantone and writer/director Michael Patrick King.

Of the DVD — which features an “extended cut” of the film — Parker said, “There’s pieces that didn’t make it into the movie. … There’s great conversations with all sorts of wonderful designers. And Michael Patrick just talks a lot about his storytelling.”

Cattrall added: “I think the movie, when it was first cut, was just over three hours, and we released it at two hours, 20 minutes, so there were a lot of really great scenes that didn’t get into the movie. So they have another life. They’re not just on the cutting-room floor. People can experience more.”

“I pulled a couple of gems out, so I put them back in,” King said. “Two and a half hours is a long time, but I really gotta watch those bathroom breaks. I can’t really torture people.”

“There’s a great sequence in the movie where Carrie tries on some of her old clothes from the ’80s. But what we filmed was the other girls in some really bad clothes from the ’80s. So you get to see the girls in some ways you’ve never seen them.”

And with rumors of a sequel being fast-tracked, we had to ask what they’d like to see more of. This was easy, according to Cattrall: “Lots more men,” she laughed. “I think that Samantha dating, it really allows the writers, me and the director to have a lot of fun. I mean, it was so interesting to see her try to be monogamous and … now she’s free.”

“It’s very easy to make a sequel,” Parker pointed out. “Everybody’s ready, and obviously the studio is excited about it, which is very flattering to us, but you can’t just do it for that reason. You have to tell a good story. It really begs the question: ‘What is the story, and how do we do it well, and how do we serve the audience?’ Because without that … you feel low.”

“I’ve gotta go home and start writing,” King joked, going on to discuss how someone makes an interesting sequel when the first one ended with most characters finding happiness and stability — two things that don’t exactly spell cliffhanger. “The first pass would be to create a story that the audience is waiting for. I still have to figure out what that is. But even in marriage and relationships, there’s drama and there’s embarrassment and drama and humanity. And everyone who’s in a relationship knows every day isn’t a movie-perfect day.

“With these actresses, I can probably come up with something they can play,” he added sarcastically.

The party was on the heels of the announcement that original “Sex and the City” author Candace Bushnell would be penning two books based on Carrie Bradshaw set during her high school years.

While Bushnell remained tight-lipped about her ideas for a teenage Carrie — “Talk to me in a year!,” she sighed — Parker gushed about the books. “I heard about this and I thought, ‘It’s so smart of her!’ ” the actress said. “And honestly, there was a big part of myself and Michael Patrick that really didn’t think about her past. We didn’t talk about her family, parents, siblings, so I don’t know anything about her in a way. I have ideas about her adolescence, but Candace is a really, really good storyteller, and I’m just really excited to see: Who was Carrie? And she’ll do it well.”

The idea of following around a young fashion-icon-in-training seems to draw obvious comparisons to “Gossip Girl,” but Parker thinks Carrie wouldn’t bear much resemblance to Serena van der Woodsen. “The thing I think that will distinguish this, not in a better or worse way, if Candace is writing about Carrie, it’s going to be a period piece. It’ll be in the ’70s and ’80s, and I think culturally we were very different [back then].”
